This video is one of the clearest statments of Leon Panettas position on our flawed pull-out of Iraq in 2011. Although the content was damning of Obamas leadership and damaging to his credibility, pundits questioned the timing of the disclosure as much as any other issue raised by the statement. . Washington tradition suggests waiting till the President is out of office before publishing. Obviously, with two years remaining on this ex-bosses watch, and what looks to be a rough congressional midterm a couple of weeks away, the timing bodes ill for POTUS et.al..

Leon is one of the oldest whores on the block and he makes no move that is not well thought through and finely crafted for maximum beneficial effect. For Leon Panetta. And being the seasoned pro that he is, it is very safe to assume he has access to intelligence we don’t have. And thus it is that…..

ISIS is poised to take Kobani, a small Syrian border town. As fighting progresses the Turkish Army watches but does nothing to help. If ISIS massacres the entire town they will be doing the Turks a favor by killing the Kurds for them. They hate Kurds. All of the generals are screaming that airstrikes alone are a strategy of failure. The publics quickly approaching its saturation point for massacres. Soon the buffoonish nature of Obama’s air campaign will stand in stark relief to the tragic loss of innocent lives it will cause. It is embarrassing that the POTUS designed this strategy for purely political reasons. A pall of foolish tragedy is descending over the administration. Panetta doesn’t want his footnote in history to include “collateral damage” from the Obama strategy-o-tragedy.

When is a good time to go public? Anytime is a good time to save your own skin.

ISIS has, in declaring a caliphate of conquered territory,created a rally point for the world jihad movement. Their numbers are swelling as the bad, the worse and the stupid scramble to sign up and splatter. A coalescence of the desperate groups into a single minded world terror matrix is evolving as a natural new paradigm. Not good. Bad! Bad! Bad!

It’s difficult enough dealing with a few incidents. Our culture can flex enough to accommodate an occasional bombing, train wreck etc. But quenching a constant calendar of simultaneous fires will wear down any cultural system. Our bucolic life in a peacetime America may soon be a fading memory. We may live as the battered spouse to the Jihad, shuffling along, hollow-eyed and spirit numbed. Will we live as a ragged renegade on the run. Always looking back over our shoulder. Before sunning at the beach, will we pause to take a quick look around before lying back? Will we scan that sidewalk café, decide it’s too attractive a target and just move on? Will we be a nation with ‘the thousand yard stare; scanning shadows in the tree line? Will we pass each night with one eye open? Will Santa still deliver in our neighborhood?

We don’t have to suffer annihilation to lose the America we love. We just have to fail to act now, when the numbers are manageable.. As more recruits swell their numbers, they become stronger. And with every unobstructed conquest they are emboldened and empowered. So kill me as I kick and scream I will not wait for miracle that will never come. Take a quick look around the solar system, We are it. There is no one else to do the job. So let the Hell – Spawn perish now, in the cradle.

Having worked with a wide range of offender populations ranging from drug traffickers to multiple murderers, I stand slightly amused but still befuddled by the delicacy of the criminal persona once caught. They are unmoved by the havoc they cause and the damage to others they do. They are, however the biggest whiners around. Imagine lawsuits over crunchy peanut butter and prayer rugs for people who stay up late committing offences against innocent citizens as a way of life and a career choice.

And the Grand Pulbah’s of whiners are the Muslim criminals. They are so hypersensitive and rightfully paranoid about others opinion that they think the guys in the huddle at football games are talking about them. And they aren’t saying anything nice!.

So this is what happens when we leave. Put your hand in a bucket of water, now pull it out. What mark is left of your passing? That is your legacy. That is what remains. Nothing. We have thrashed around a bit in the bucket of Afghanistan, now the bucket stands alone and eventually, in just a year or two, undisturbed by our presence and passing.

The Russians left whimpering. The British are gone. Now the U.S. is leaving. Every army that has occupied Afghanistan leaves, tail gingerly tucked and like the water in the bucket, all will soon return to as it was. Tribal fealties, like all entrenched societal values, resist change. And unless we re-educate the entire population to understand and accept a new and overarching system of living, it will always return to it’s original chaotic tribal condition. Such retraining could be a generatonal task, hardly worth the trip for a rock like Afghanistan. The poppy fields are a consideration (either napalm or heroin refineries), depending on your attitude.

Obama should lend his model of change to the Afghanis, it might work where other promoted systems have failed. You must destroy the system in place first, then insert your favorite model. Of course you must displace all who would benefit from perpetuating the old system. (A pogrom or two could do this). But this story is going to be daily fare before long. The Wak-a-Mulla air war you got going on in northern Iraq and parts of Syria is the equivalent to a floating Maginot line. It is an incomplete strategy that has gaps big enough to deep-throat the Hindenburg.
