“I am tired, as a white male, of being blamed for everything!” Such as it is with director/actor Terry Gilliam. He is not revealing anything heretofore undiscovered. He is finally giving voice to a gripe that has passed through the mind of nearly every white male at one point or another. The exception lies with that rare bird of gender suicide, the “Alan Alda” Titmouse that chirps a whining chirp that never says anything good about its own gender.
Gilliam, whom I discovered in the picture “Brazil”. His dystonic masterpiece hooked me instantly. And up to this point he has said nothing so politically egregious he has not ruined my image of him as a talented and intelligent artist.
If he has said something stupid; like something damaging to the Trump image, don’t tell me. When it comes to good movies I need an escape, not a locker-room speech about how we are goanna kick their ass. Just make another film as good as Time Bandits.
